Complications

In small babies suffering with reflux, often as they develop and grow the problem dissapears. In some children, like with all medical conditions there can be complications:

• Esophagitis
• Failure to thrive (faltering growth / FTT)
• Sandifer syndrome (Infants)
• Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing)
• Aspiration, respiratory infections
• Apnea or ALTE
• Asthma and GER
• Barrett's esophagus
• Narrowing (stricture) of the esophagus.
