Professor Eric HassallEric Hassall  is Professor of Paediatrics in the Dept of Paediatrics, Division of Gastroenterology at BC Children's Hospital/ University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC.

He obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of Capetown, South Africa, and trained in general paediatrics in London, England, and Children's Hospital / University of Washington, Seattle, WA; and in gastroenterology at the UCLA School of Medicine, Los

He established a new Division of Gastroenterology and GI Procedures Unit at BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver in 1984. His special interests include paediatric aspects of esophageal diseases, including GERD and Barrett's esophagus, in addition to gastritis/gastropathy, peptic ulcer disease, and paediatric endoscopy.

He has headed international clinical studies, and national professional committees, and serves on several international scientific and advisory committees, journal Editorial Boards, and as an advisor to the U.S. Federal Drug Administration committee dealing with paediatric GI drugs.

He has given more than 300 presentations worldwide, and has more than 200 publications in the field.
